Gackt's live tour "Mars" slowly came to an end on July 1st 2000.
"Saikai~Story"~ scheduled for release in August, softly echoed around as thecrowd filtered out of Yokohama Arena.
"Saikai~Story"~ acting as perfect bridge between "MARS" and "Rebirth" softly but surely set "Rebirth" into motion.

Gackt then started work on his video "MARS - Recollection" at the same time pouring energy into new recordings.
In August in an event taking place in Mihamacho, Aichi, Gackt played an unreleased song "Nine Spiral" for the first time, exciting his fans.
This song was later releasedin November together with the single "Secret Garden".
The grandeur of "Secret Garden" together with it's freedom, spontaneity and richness of emotion as well as it's moments of loneliness clearly captures Gackt rising onto a new level.
While work continued on the "Mars" releases - MARS A Visitor a 5.1 channel surround sound DVD project and "Platinum Box 1" a collection of live recordings Gackt andother members continued recording the much awaited album "Rebirth" in a studio somewhere in Japan.

Although the beginning of 2001 brought Gackt much-needed time to continue his recordings, he was to face another challenge.
A fight with his own condition.
"Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto", a brand new song, was successfully released in March heightening the excitement for the much-anticipated new album.
However, immediately after taking album-sleeve photographs for "Rebirth", Gackt collapsed and was rushed to the hospital.
He had previously been taken to the hospital, his health jeopardized by large doses of pressure and anxiety.
This time, however, he was diagnosed with pneumonia, hospitalization unavoidable.
Of course, further recording of "Rebirth" was impossible and was cancelled, uneasiness set in over the live tour schedule that was to begin in May.
However, Gackt continued to write lyrics and song while hospitalized.
Even with doubts as to whether he would ever be able to return on the stage he continued to write and to compose.
This undying dedication and committment produced and proved to be the most creative output yet, all captured in "Rebirth".
The desire to share this new music and this new world with his fans was the driving force which lead to his recovery and the release of "Rebirth" on April 25th. It was also his rebirth.

Among the many strong emotions and colorful expressions captured in the album are emotions of happiness within pain and pain within happiness.
In "Rebirth", Gackt challenges the listener to experience a psychological war, the tug between different emotions.
The "Rebirth", complete experience live tour, started May 3rd.
An absolutely new phenomenon that felt like the experiencer was part of a huge movie.

This live which surpasses that of last year in content and scale drew it's curtains on June 23rd at Yokohama Arena.
Expectation and anticipation increased every day all around the country as the live drew nearer, reaching a peak on the final day of the tour.
What did the sold out arena filled with millions of fans witness that day?
